Female Carrot Wasp – Gasteruption on buckwheat
I spied something large and long flitting around the buckwheat. When it hovered for a bit my first thought was dragonfly because of the long body but when I got a good look at the head, it looked more like a wasp. I was finally able to ID it as a female Carrot Wasp – Gasteruption. Fascinating critter.
Black spider wasp on rosy buckwheat
I haven’t been able to get a detailed on this beauty but it’s a spider wasp who comes by at least once a day to feast on the rosy buckwheat.
